A Flapper with a Deck of Cards?

1. Do you prefer cotton, silk, or flannel sheets? Having never slept on silk sheets, I'm afraid I'm at a disadvantage when it comes to answering this question well. However, I do know that I prefer cotton over flannel. Flannel is a wonderful material but for sheets it is a bit of a pain. Give me my cotton any day of the week ;) And hey maybe one day I will rob a bank win the lottery and invest in some silk sheets just to see if they are better.

2. What time zone are you in? Eastern

3. What is your favorite part of the holiday season? Having 10 days off. It's the most awesome benefit of my job :) And this holiday season will involve my baby sister moving in with me! Of course I also love giving gifts and eating good food.

4. What is your favorite "wintry" drink? (It doesn't have to be an "alcoholic" drink!) Starbucks' Peppermint Hot Chocolate

5. In your opinion, what is the worst job in the world? For me personally, it would be anything in law enforcement. I'm so thankful for the people who do those jobs, but I just don't have the constitution for that kind of career. In general, however, I think the worst job is always the job that you are absolutely not suited for. If you love what you do, then it's awesome (even if it is embalming dead people or hauling off trash or wading in poo all day ...). If you don't love what you do (even if it is a supposedly great career like doctor/lawyer/etc), then it's awful and quite possibly the worst job in the world ...
Sorry to go all philosophical on y'all like that. Hmmmm .... maybe I should hunt down that caffeine.
1.   When I was a kid I wanted to be    a mom   when I grew up.

2.   As an adult, my dream job would be  a part time stay at home wife with a kickbutt side job like "Superhero" or "Secret Agent"   .

3.  W hen I was younger I wanted to be just like  my dad   .

4. The childhood Halloween costume that I remember most was when I was   a flapper back in my high school band days. I borrowed a flapper dress from my Grandma and certainly looked the part .

5.  My favorite childhood toy was   a deck of cards. I could play for hours on end with a deck of cards. I think I was ALWAYS playing solitaire.

6.  The time I got into the biggest amount of trouble when I was a kid was when I    rode up the street with a neighbor without informing my parents of where I was going. I was big on disappearing and did it multiple times. My parents weren't fans of my disappearing act to say the least.

7.  I get daily inspiration from the kids I work with, Pinterest (It's an addiction!), awesome bloggers, crazy family members, and PB (he's kind of my muse).

It's Ok, It's Thursday!

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK .....

To go downtown for lunch three times this week even though I am broke as a joke.

To totally rock brown leggings with my black dress and heels.

To cry when you finally get a letter that brings everything into perspective.

To be almost finished Christmas shopping but still want to buy more gifts.

To want to throw your new wireless router out the window because it is the demise of internet as you know it!

To hijack candy from other people's candy jars because you're too cheap/lazy to get your own.

To wonder why all the candy you bought for Halloween is still at your house and not in the aforementioned candy jar.

To take an extended break from work to hike downtown for a bank (and cheesecake) run.

To dream of the day when napping will be my full-time job.

To miss my old co-workers dearly ....

To eat a cupcake just because it's Thursday.

Have a great one, y'all!!!

A Wee Little Nap Never Hurt Anyone

Tired.
That sums me up today.
I'm dead on my feet tired.
The kind of tired that produces tears.
At the drop of hat.
Dead tired.

And because of this exhaustion, I'm not going to attempt a real blog post today.
I know that it would end up with me chasing an emotional rabbit all over tarnation.
So, instead, I'm going to leave you with a little musical entertainment that has been on repeat in my head.
And hopefully tomorrow I'll be back with a little awesomesauce.
Have a great Wednesday, y'all!

2.  Do you like your handwriting?
Most days I do believe that I do. Especially when I slow down and write like I mean it. When I'm trying to get all my thoughts down before I forget them then my handwriting starts looks super crazy.

3.  What is the last movie you saw?
I just watched Bridesmaids. And seriously I was disappointed. I thought I would like it a lot more than I did, but I felt like there were a lot of loose ends and very little humor. Or at least the kind of humor that I personally enjoy.

4.  Do you buy things on eBay?
I fell head over heels in love with eBay earlier this year. I don't know what took me so long, but now I search eBay like a crazy person for things like hard to find Christmas presents!

One of my first purchases on eBay was a pair of boots like these for PB last Valentine's Day:

5.  What did you have for lunch yesterday?
Grandma's Chicken Casserole, BBQ Pork Chops, Fried Okra, Mashed Potatoes, & Homemade Chocolate Pie. Sunday dinners at Grandma's are the absolute best!!!

Chapter 2: Jackson

Another chapter of our saga began Friday ...
Jackson.
It always makes me wanna sing the Johnny Cash song.
But in reality Jackson is just another step closer to being together again. It's a bigger pond and a little farther away from me, but it is a step in the right direction. I'm in a transition stage at the moment. Not easy for me because transition tends to involve a whole lot of waiting, and I sincerely hate waiting. However, hopefully this will be our last transition until PB comes home. And that is one transition that I won't mind a bit.

While PB and I have been together on and off for 10 years, we decided to pick an official "starting point" of our forever. We decided on June 23, 2011 because it is the time we most recently became on again. The idea being that there will be no off again. Having said all that, Saturday was exactly 4 months from the day we officially began again.

So today for me is a celebration.
I'm celebrating 4 uninterrupted(except for of course the obvious physical separation)months of bliss with my sweet boyfriend, PB. And I am celebrating the beginning of a new chapter. I am certain this chapter will have ups and downs (and likely more downs than ups), but I am thankful for the quick transition and the fact that the countdown is still on. I'm ready to continue moving forward to forever.

I hope the rest of you have had as good of a weekend as I did. And I hope that your Monday is worthy of celebration as well.

Have a great day,

Slacker vs Non-Slacker: Epic Battle of the Ages

Apparently, there is a slacker inside of me. I didn't realize it (well that may not be entirely true ...), but it has been overpowering the non-slacker in me this week. Well that was long and drawn out ... basically sorry for being a slacker, but hey look I'm bringing a new link up! Who can resist a great link up?!?! Not me that's for sure. Well enough chit chat ... let's get down to bizness [sorry, inner grammarian, I couldn't resist].

1. Where do you escape to when you've had enough? My back bedroom. Curled up in my papasan chair with my laptop. I can totally forget all the bad things when I'm on the internet. LOL.

2. What shows are you watching this fall? Pan-Am (lovin' it!), Happy Endings (cracks me up), Last Man Standing (love Tim Allen!), Parenthood (I'm all about some drama!), && Hart of Dixie

3. What was the longest roadtrip you've ever taken and where did you go? I hightailed my butt to Shreveport, LA once to see a then boyfriend for NYE. My bestie and my sister tagged along. On the way there we managed to blow up the engine in my car. The whole trip was filled with wonderful chaos revolving around the question, "How in the bejeezus are we gonna get home?!?!!?"

4. Do you plan on taking your kids to Disney World? I don't plan on having kids. But if that changes I will then let you know about the Disney World issue.

5. What is something people would surprised to know about you? I don't eat pepperoni because it's too spicy. Isn't that pathetic?!?!

Did you miss me?

Day 70

Have you all been scratching your heads wondering where in the heck I've been? Well, I plan to have a post filled with pictures up by the end of the week. I spent an extended weekend with my family in the mountains. It was a beautiful setting and a great time was had by all (except for the part at the end where we were beginning to be sick of each other and very nearly hated each others' guts .... yeah other than that it was great!). And now I'm back. It's good to be home. Good to feel very much like me again. Some days I just don't feel like me. And some days I just don't know what I feel like. But today I feel good [yes, you are welcome to sing a little James Brown right here]. So, I'm going to make a few quick lists and then share some awesome Pinterest finds. Go link up with The Vintage Apple to join in the fun!

PB - Related
  • I am two letters behind. PB, wonderful man that he is, has written me TWICE since I've managed to get a letter in the mail. I'm sorry, sweetie! I promise my next letter will be super awesome!
  • It's hard to believe it's been 70 days since I've seen the love of my life. I miss him more today than I did yesterday. And if the pattern continues my guess is I will miss him more tomorrow.
  • Quick funny PB story: I told him I wanted to marry him (one day in the future .... the far off distance future ... don't everyone start flipping out ...) and the crazy kid fell off the top bunk and nearly killed himself (the hick in me so wanted to type "hisself" but the grammarian wouldn't allow it). I'm sure that's not nearly as hilarious to y'all as it was to me. But I laughed myself silly. Then he told me that he now has to read my letters sitting on the floor so as to prevent further injury. I'm still cracking up. Mrs M (the sweet [and by "sweet" I mean "kickass"] lady who is responsible for my darling boyfriend [aka his mom in case you were confused]) is concerned because I laugh at PB's peril, but I can't help that I'm a morbid and somewhat awful girlfriend.
  • I ate a steak while on vacay and couldn't help but think about our "candlelit dinner" in the Tin Can. Oh boy howdy y'all. That was a date where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. But it was the greatest date ever. It was so real, and we just laughed right through it all. From the power going completely out to utensils magically disappearing. PB cooked steaks on the grill and we sat on the bed and ate them in the candle light with a crazy pocket knife and our fingers. I know, I know it sounds awful. But it was hilariously wonderful. And if you don't know us then this is just a glimpse of how "off beat" we really are.
Non PB - Related
  • I love tooling around little old towns. I could spend all day learning about histories or roaming through antique stores wishing I could afford vintage furniture.
  • I totally just spilled Mountain Dew all over myself and of course we're out of paper towels. [Note to self: Hit up some awesome sale and restock paper towels in the office]
  • I had a root canal last week so this week (or next) it's on to the permanent filling and crown. And hopefully this tooth nightmare will be over!
  • I'm going to be totally jamming out to Sunny Sweeney all day today just because I can.
  • I have birthday candles in my desk drawer ..... just in case.
  • And now I'm off to hunt down my awesome Pinterest finds to share with y'all.

I can see clearly now ... The rain is gone!

Today is the first day that the rain hasn't been falling outside my window. And with the departure of the rain my mood has lifted. I've always known that rainy weather seriously affects my mood. It puts me in a depression that I can't seem to shake. The good news is: we need the rain, and we got it. And the better news is: Now it's gone! So, today is good. A day filled with ups and downs. The rollercoaster of the week in my office is our printer. It's a monstrous machine to begin with and last week half of it's capabilities went kaput on us. After jumping through a thousand hoops I'm still no closer to finding out what is wrong than I was the day it broke.

Good news: Printer is not broke.
Bad News: It does not work.
Good News: It's not your computer.
Bad News: It does not work.
Good News: It's not your network port.
Bad News: It does not work.
Good News: We have contacted some people who may can fix it ....
Bad News: They should get back to us [maybe] this week.

On a less rollercoastery note, I'm in charge of recreation with my teens tonight and due to the saturation of all our outdoor play areas it looks like we'll be playing a few group "board" games. I'm not sure they're gonna be loving it, but I sure will be. I LOVE board games and "game nights".

And the best news of the day .... in ten minutes I'm headed downtown for a little afternoon Starbucks run! Score! Hope the rest of you lovelies are enjoying a rain free Wednesday :)

Day 60 = 2 Months

Wow, time has been slipping away from me! Has it really been nearly a week since I posted? My apologies. I spent this weekend with my sibling and then spent yesterday at the dentist [which was a waste of time]. However, I am now back and [possibly] better than ever! Welcome to Day 60. I think I'll post in list format today. I am quite the list lover. Just a random tidbit you may not have known :)

  • Temporary crowns ... SUCK.
  • I hacked PB's email account yesterday.
  • Sometimes I'm certain the things I post make me sound like a stalker.
  • PB would tell you that I am a stalker ....
  • I really shouldn't admit that. And I don't mean "stalker" in the criminal sense.
  • I really only hacked his account because he doesn't have access to it and it was shooting out spam and getting on my nerves.
  • The medicated crap they put in my temp crown tastes like gumdrops. I'm not a fan.
  • I have a half written letter floating around my house.
  • I would really like to like pumpkin flavored things. I guess I'll have to try again this year ...
  • My poor office space needs some decor. It looks sparse.
  • Today's quote is: "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."
  • It is raining outside my window.
  • Which makes me wish I was curled up in my bed instead of working.
  • I don't think I could ever raise my future littlies to be health freaks.
  • I love sugar WAY too much.
  • And now I am going to wrap this random hodgepodge up.
  • Did I say anything important?
  • Why, no, I certainly do not.
  • But some days there is just nothing important to say.
  • Enjoy my latest favorite from Pinterest.

    If Only .... [Pinteresting Wednesday]

    google

Today's post is brought to you by the words

    "If Only ..."

If only I could grow a flower without killing it ....

If only I could sew ....

If only I had some chicken wire ....

    If only I had a "stay-at-home-bake-all-day" husband ...

If only my sister had a cute kid I could dress up like this ....

If only PB would let me do this photo op with our future littlies ....

If only we were rich ...

If only PB were this handsome ... [I kid, I kid]
